Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Civic Center Project


Q: What time of day will the Los Rios project pile-driving occur?

A: Construction is allowed between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, work generally ends by 4:00 p.m.


Q: Will there be a lot of dust generated by project construction?

A: Whenever there is construction, there is dust. All of the agencies have strict dust control measures that they require of contractors. It will be contained as much as possible with water trucks on site whenever dust is generated.


Q: Will there be a need to dewater the site, as was done in Southport?

A: No. This project will not require dewatering.


Q: Will traffic flows be interrupted?

A: The plan is to have signage that will redirect traffic. Merkley Avenue heading south from West Capitol will be closed for a period of time. A traffic signal will be installed at Merkley and West Capitol.


Q: Where will all of the construction workers park?

A: The contractors are required to provide parking for their employees on site or out of the immediate area. They will not be allowed to park on the street. Street parking will remain available for customers.


Q: Will there be periods of time when sewer, water or electricity service will be temporarily stopped?

A: Unless there is an unforeseen problem, there shouldn't be any disconnection of utilities.
