| The Refuse & Recycling Division, housed in the Department of Finance, is responsible for administering a contract with a private hauler to collect and dispose of solid waste generated by residential and certain commercial customers. This Division administers the City's recycling program which currently consists of residential curbside (newspaper, cardboard, mixed paper, plastic, glass, metals, motor oil, oil filters and yard waste), multi-family (newspaper, cardboard, mixed paper, plastic, glass, and metals) commercial (newspaper, cardboard, mixed paper, plastic, glass, and metals) and backyard composting. The Division also participates in monthly Household Hazardous Waste Collection events and sponsors "Clean-up Week" - a bulky waste drop-off event - twice a year. | |  Bulky Waste Drop-off The next Bulky Waste Drop-off event is scheduled for September 15-18, 2010 at 540 Harbor Blvd. Hours of operation are 4pm to 7pm Wednesday to Friday, and 9am to 3pm on Saturday. Multifamily recycling incentive program - "Cash for Recycling" Contest If your multifamily complex (5 or more units) has a recycling program through the city's waste services provider, Waste Management, your complex may be eligible to enter the Cash for Recycling incentive program. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) and is only available to multifamily complexes with 5 or more units. New Recycling Programs at the Yolo County Central Landfill The Yolo County Central Landfill is offering two new recycling programs: - CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes & cassettes.

Free drop-off is available at the landfill during normal business hours. For hours and directions, please click here. Please note that these items are only accepted for drop-off at the Yolo County Central Landfill, but NOT in your recycling cart or bin. |
